H3 Oil Does ALL of this!!!
-
Sprinkle a few drops on and gently massage well into skin -leave it on – do not wash off. The affects are immediate! Most horses lean into the soothing oils where they had previously flinched from the sensitivity of the condition
-
If you can’t clean your horse – do your best to knock off as much debris as possible- massage oil into the coat and let sit. The next day you will probably notice a dark slime on the coat. This is a mix of deep down dirt and dead skin cells that the oil has lifted. Scrape/ wipe the slime off of the coat. Reapply the oil and brush into the coat making sure the oil reaches the skin while taking care to not be too aggressive on sensitive areas
-
If you are putting this on a clean horse - most of the oil will be soaked into coat after 24 hrs. and you can begin to brush through to loosen and lift the dry scabby parts. In severe cases of rain rot, if the scabs haven’t lifted, repeat application bit more oil and massage into coat. Brush daily until you are satisfied that the condition has resolved.
-
For most cases the oil will soak into the skin and coat and does not need to be washed off. For some, (especially horses that are dirty when the oil is first applied), or those with very thick shaggy coats, it may need to be washed off with a mild soap such as Ivory dish soap or liquid Castille soap.
“Scratches” “Mud Fever” “Greasy Heel”
-
All of these dermatologic conditions involve the lower limbs and can be tricky to heal- especially since many are caused by the environment ( stabling and/or turnout) the horse lives in! While most cases can be cleared by applying oil and massaging into the skin every couple days, occasional cases need different approaches. – They do not have to be completely dry to apply the oil. Wash every couple days and reapply oil until scabs fall off and new hair growth is apparent. If legs are very inflamed or are predominantly white which are more prone to sun sensitivity, H3 Super Cream formula is preferred. H3 Super Cream contains H3Oil, (and therefore the same healing, antibacterial, anti fungal and anti inflammatory)properties), but also has added Zinc and shea butter to create protection from the sun in a thick moisturizing formula that will stay on the legs (and muzzles) for days even in wet grass and mud. It’s like putting a waterproof turnout on the legs!
Tail Rubbing /Sheaths/ Udders
-
Ever notice your horse rubbing its tail and have someone tell you it must be worms? Maybe it’s not…maybe it’s a build up of smegma – that nasty slimy gunk that builds up in the sheath of colts and geldings -and also between the teats of a mare or filly! That can be very irritating and horses rub their butts ( and therefore tail head) because they are uncomfortable. A few drops of H3Oil will dissolve smegma and soothe the area and does not need to be washed off.
Hoof Treatments
-
H3 Oil is excellent for raw or irritated coronary band / heel bulbs and, because of the antifungal properties of the essential oil blend, it is perfect for thrush!
-
H3 Herbal Pack is available for packing hooves to treat thrush, stone bruises, relieve soreness and draw out abscesses
-
H3 Hoof Oil is the last hoof dressing you will ever need! This formula combines the original H3 oil with rice bran and canola oils which creates a formula which penetrates deeply to prevent thrush and moisture related issues while promoting hoof wall growth and durability. H3 Hoof oil can be applied to the sensitive coronary band, heel bulbs and frog as well as the sole and wall. When used as a dressing, H3 Hoof oil formula soaks in, rather than sitting on outer surface-, and provides a soft luster that is not sticky or tacky so debris will not cling to it.

Additional Tips
-
Do not overuse this product. It is meant as a healing oil, not a moisturizer or daily conditioner.
-
*Do not mix products – while there are no known interactions with any other products natural or otherwise, it is important to completely remove any other topical treatment that may have already been applied
-
*Do not blanket dirty horses, or horses with thick coats! While many people think “rain rot” is caused by dirty coats of turnout horses getting wet, it shows up frequently on blanketed horses that are getting too warm and sweating under a blanket which causes a perfect environment for bacteria and fungus ! Do not share grooming tools between horses without cleaning/ disinfecting in between ( This can be easily accomplished by using a 10% bleach solution)
-
*Do not pick at scabby areas ! Let the oil do the job of lifting them! It’s more comfortable for your horse and avoids the possibility of transferring pathogens on your hands to other horses.
